Episode 6: The Number One Process for a Winning Mindset

6 The Number One Process for a Winning Mindset

Reframing is an extremely valuable skill.

It allows you to be more able to see how things work out for your good, how they happen for you, instead of just to you.

It’s a skill that requires you to look at things differently. And it’s a skill you can develop and get better at over time.

“How do I get better at reframing things and viewing them in a way that feels better to me and helps me have more of a winning mindset?”

It’s a question I get asked a lot. And in episode 6 of the Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast, I’m going to answer it. My answer may surprise you. You may like it.

Or you might not.

But here’s the thing…

Even though it’s not glamorous, the answer I give you is proven to work. It’s proven to help you achieve the winning mindset that will make such a difference in your life.

In episode 6 of The Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast, I also share with you what I view as the best way to practice reframing and a wonderful outcome that you experience when you diligently make reframing a habit.

Please tune in to Episode 6 of The Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast to hear more of my thoughts on this powerful idea.

Episode 5: What a Bad Boss Can Teach You

5 What a Bad Boss Can Teach You

Have you ever had a bad boss?

Today, I want to talk about a topic that impacts each and every one of us. But first, let me ask you this question…

Have you ever had a bad boss? One who was truly awful to work with? One who caused your stomach to tighten as you stressed out over the thought of seeing or talking to them?

Some bosses lead with fear, intimidation, and bullying. They threaten with the “stick” instead of offering the “carrot”. They give the impression that if you don’t do exactly what they expect, something bad will happen to you.

Consider the story of what happened recently with Elon Musk and his demands that Tesla employees return to the office. Not so much the idea that they can no longer work remotely, but the heavy-handed way it was communicated. Then the follow up comments insinuating anyone working remotely was only pretending to work.

He then talked publicly about needing to cut 10% of his work force.

I see this as a prime example of someone leading with fear, a stick instead of a carrot. Fear works in the short term, but it creates a toxic culture and can’t sustain success.

In my work, I help leaders understand how to motivate people in ways that empower them and help create a culture where people thrive and profits rise.

If you’re working for a bad boss, a winning mindset can help.

You have the power to use mindset techniques to make your work experience far different and better.

If you want practical strategies and tactics to not only survive, but thrive in a tough work environment, please tune into to Episode 5 of The Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast.

Episode 4: Want More Peace and Less Worry? This Will Help You

4 Want More Peace and Less Worry_ This Will Help You

Warning…

Today, I may take you out of your comfort zone. How?

With this phrase that many people don’t like to hear: “It’s not about you!”. If you’re starting to squirm a bit, I can totally relate. I used to feel the same way. That began to change when I started to develop a winning mindset.

Even if the phrase makes you feel uncomfortable, learning how it applies to many situations in life will open up a whole new paradigm for you and set you free. It will give you more empathy and compassion for people who do things that cause you anger and frustration. You’ll see most any irritation through a different and better lens.

Imagine this common situation we’ve all experienced: A guy on the freeway honks at you because he thinks you’re driving too slowly, then speeds around you. It happens all the time, right? We often think, “Why’s that guy being such a jerk?”. But do we ever stop to think about the deeper reason behind why he did it? Probably not.

Put yourself in his shoes for a moment: He just got the news that his son, his only child, just fell off a swing at the school playground and broke his arm. He’s panicked. He’s terrified. He’s rushing to the hospital to be with his son.

This would give you a whole different perspective, wouldn’t it? You would say, “Hey, it’s not about me”. You would immediately have sympathy for the poor guy.

Remember this: if other peoples’ seemingly rude behavior is not about you, (and it most often isn’t!) then it’s not your burden or your responsibility.

By embracing this concept, you’ll find it much easier to have a mindset that works for you, not against you.

Please tune into to Episode 4 of The Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast to hear my deep dive into this idea.

Episode 3: An Uncomfortable Question

3 An Uncomfortable Question

I’m going to ask you a tough question.

I’ll warn you that what I have to say may ruffle your feathers. That’s a chance I’m willing to take. Why? Because I’m confident it can help you have a life that’s a lot more amazing.

So let me ask you…

Do you view yourself as a victim? Or a victor? Why does it matter?

Here’s why: if you have a mindset of a victor, you believe you have a high degree of control in your life. When a challenge comes, you aren’t daunted. You feel empowered and confident that you can face it.

On the other hand, if you have a victim mindset, you think life is unfair. You complain that other people are “lucky” and “get all the breaks”. When things don’t go your way, you try and console yourself by saying “It’s not my fault!”

In a strange way, when things don’t go as we hoped, there’s something tempting about the victim mentality. It can even seem oddly satisfying. You may not have what you want, but at least you’re not to blame. But where does it get you? More frustrated, more dejected, and further away from the life you want. Not to mention, you feel like the odds are and will always be stacked against you.

So, what’s the difference if you have a victor’s mindset?

If you’re willing to accept that you have control of how you react to life and how you view the world, you take your power back. You can become your own hero and change everything. Like I talked about in my first two podcast episodes, I had what many would call a hard upbringing. Choosing to have a victim mentality would have been easy, and also would have ensured that my entire life was hard. Choosing to view myself as the hero of my own story gave me the ability to see other opportunities for me and realize I wasn’t my circumstances. I was my possibilities.

I have great news for you. Even if you have experienced failure after failure and setback after setback, even if you have a personal history of thinking and acting like a victim, you can choose to change. You can become the hero in your own story. And every time you make that choice, you’ll become mentally stronger and more resilient.

And if you’re like me, I’m guessing you love to hear underdog stories and be inspired by people who persevered against great odds and succeeded in a big way.

I’d like to share a couple of those stories with you. Tune into Episode 3 of The Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast to find out more.

Episode 2: Do Things Happen To You? Or For You?

2 Do Things Happen to You_ Or For You_

I’m going to spill some real secrets...

I hope you’re excited but first, let me give you a really simple practice that will give you some amazing mindset momentum and make a profound difference in your life.

Each day, write down three wins you’ve experienced. It doesn’t matter if they are big or small. Just write down three wins.

Do you believe things happen to you?

Here’s the thing: we get what we focus on. So why not focus on the best things that have happened for you? When you do, you’ll begin to notice more great opportunities and wins that you may not have been drawn to before.

Now, on to the really fun stuff. This is where the magic starts to happen!

Let me ask you a question: Do you believe things happen to you? Or do you believe things happen for you?

When a seemingly negative situation or event happens, we can use the power of our mindset to reframe it and see the ways that it may end up being the best thing that could have happened to us.

The idea of life happen for you is a fundamental shift for a lot of people. When you make that shift you experience amazing results. You feel empowered. And when you feel this sense of empowerment, your subconscious mind will freely give you valuable ideas and solutions. Or at the very least, you’ll enjoy a sense of calmness you wouldn’t have felt if you had allowed the “negative” situation to make you feel like a victim.

I experienced a seemingly negative situation like this when I was a teenager. At first, I was devastated. But it turned out to be one of the best things that’s happened to me. I’m confident this story will inspire you and help drive home the point that even “negative” things are often happening for you not to you, you simply don’t have all the information yet.

Listen to Episode 2 of The Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast to hear this story and find out more about this game-changing idea. I’ll also explain how to use it to help you reframe situations in your life so that you can not only trust things are always working out for you, but see it happen right before your eyes

Here’s to your success!

Episode 1: The Life-Changing Value of a Winning Mindset

1 The Life-Changing Value of a Winning Mindset

Let’s talk about something that can change your life for the better…

A winning mindset.

When you have a winning mindset, your life improves in so many ways. You enjoy better relationships, a more successful career, more happiness, better health, and on and on…

Default Mindset vs. Winning Mindset.

Consider the difference between the person who has a default mindset vs. the person who deliberately and actively cultivates a winning mindset. They can both have the same intelligence level, the same education, the same opportunities.

Yet the person with the winning mindset will have a much different and better experience of life. The seemingly trivial things that upset and derail the person with the default mindset won’t hold them back.

The setbacks the person with the winning mindset experiences will seem like much less of a challenge. Plus, they’ll notice opportunities more easily and get what they want much more often.

How can I say this so confidently? I speak from experience. In my early life, I had substantial hardships, including poverty, a single parent with substance abuse problems, and physical abuse.

I was also surrounded by people who had the type of life I wanted no part of.  They told me I couldn’t have the life I wanted. Because of their own mindsets, they didn’t believe I could rise above the life I was born into.

Yet I believed and felt differently. From an early age, I sought out mentors, I read stories of others who had pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and succeeded and I did mindset work before I even knew what that was.

All this made a huge difference in my life and made my dreams not only possible, but easier to accomplish than I ever wouldn’t imagined.  I’m confident I can help you enjoy your life and dreams the same way.

Please tune into to Episode 1 of The Winning Mindset Mastery Podcast to hear my story and find out more.
